WHY OCCI?
The coastal environments of the Central Coast, including our rocky foreshores, lagoons, rivers and lakes, are sensitive and special places. They are also under threat from a variety of sources and need special conservation attention by us (the community!) so that future generations can enjoy their beauty and biodiversity.
Ocean and Coastal Care Initiatives (OCCI) was formed by the community in 1999 as a response to this environmental challenge.
OCCI AIMS
* To educate the community on marine and coastal environmental issues
* To promote the marine and coastal environment to the community
* To participate in and promote programs that conserve and protect the marine and coastal environment
Through interactive community displays excursions, workshops, and projects, OCCI’s aims are being achieved.
To enable OCCI to be more effective, we need more volunteers who care about our coast.
